Mr. H.W. Dekker



Heidi Dekker joined Wijn & Stael as administrative attorney in 2019. She counsels and represents clients in litigation matters covering a broad spectrum of matters, including aspects of administrative and environmental law related to area and project development and general administrative law issues, such as public access to government information. She also represents clients in enforcement proceedings involving environmental and privacy issues.

Broad Experience

Prior to joining the firm, Heidi worked at the Council of State, where she gained specific knowledge of the environmental and nature protection law. She also worked at De Nederlandsche Bank and an international law firm, where she gained experience at the Real Estate and Privacy sections.

Representative Practice

  • Successfully represented a client in a construction project dispute involving a construction freeze that was imposed, and subsequently lifted, by the city following good faith discussions that led to a satisfying solution for all parties involved.
  • Successfully suspended the collection of penalties for a client, citing the statute of limitations on the administrative body’s debt collection authority.
  • Counseled a food manufacturer on the cable and pipeline permits required to relocate (part of) their production facility.
  • Counseled an institutional investor on the planning opportunities for a large-scale mall redevelopment.


Heidi has registered the following principal (and secondary) legal practice areas in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister):

  • Environmental and planning law (Environmental law, Planning and zoning law, Nature Conservation Law)

Based on this registration, she is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
