mr. G.M.F. Snijders

Gerard

Gerard Snijders obtained his doctorate in 1987 on the subject of product safety and liability. In 1989 he came to work at Wijn & Stael, which already had an excellent regulation as a law firm in the area of agricultural law. It became his specialism. From 1992 to 2012 he was appointed as special professor in agricultural law at Nijmegen. He assists lessors and agricultural lessees as well as agricultural entrepreneurs and organizations and is involved in major cases to do with agricultural claims, such as the MPA and Q-fever affairs.

His connections with the agricultural sector date back to his youth when he worked regularly on a farm while still at secondary school. His work involves mainly agricultural tenancy law, cooperative ventures within the agricultural sector, product liability and agricultural claims. He is motivated not only by the cases themselves, but above all by the people behind these cases.

Gerard has written a book on Dutch agricultural tenancy law and frequently publishes on all aspects of agricultural law. He is also chairman of a number of arbitration tribunals and regularly acts in arbitration proceedings. He is a member of the Agricultural Lawyers Association (VARA).
